In July I took a girls trip with my high school bestie to Cuba. OMG, we had so much fun! She was the sweetest angel and I had so much fun celebrating my engagement!!! We planned out outfits for months and had some amazing Cuban adventures through Airbnb. I use Airbnb to book almost all of my travels while in Cuba and highly recommend giving it a try. This is a long blog post, 2 parts – Hotel & Adventures and Fashion.
First, I want to start by saying this trip was not sponsored directly by Airbnb but from our fabulous host that owns the villa, we stayed in.
PSA: You CAN still visit Cuba! I obtained a quick $30 visa at the airport. My visa was “To Support The Cuban People”. I brought toothbrushes and other dental hygiene products to give out to Cuban Children and shopped, stayed and supported ALL local Cuban entrepreneurs. GO! Visit! Have Fun!
I’ve used Airbnb for homes to stay in for years but now they offer a new feature…experiences! Yes! You can paint, tour, cook, drive, take photos, party, and experience the local culture with a local, like a local! This trip was the first time I tried out the experiences and it was seriously LIFE CHANGING. Why visit another country if you’re just going to stay at your resort? Get to know the people, learn their views on their country, eat and drink with them! We did 5 experiences in 3 days!

We met some of the coolest travelers in this group tour. From swanky to historical we climbed dozens of stairs and had an absolute BLAST! If you want to meet fellow travelers this is the perfect tour!
Wow! Chelsea and I planned our outfits for months and knew we had to get a good photographer to capture them! Manuel was amazing (check my IG for photos) and provided an American Classic car that we got to ride around in. Tour AND photos…yes! As bloggers, we do what’s called content shoots and I shoot anywhere from 10-20 outfits in a day! Shocker, I do not dress up every day and take photos nonstop. For this shoot, I took around 12 outfits and Manuel was a PRO. Not many photographers can hang with bloggers if they’re not used to it and man he was a GEM. If you’re a blogger or influencer I highly recommend this tour! See photos at the end of the post in the fashion tab!
Let’s take a moment. This art tour changed the way I see art and how I view where I live. I live in Southern Florida, not very far from Havana, Cuba…it’s actually closer than most US cities for me. Cuban culture has a huge influence where I reside. I feel like I really truly got to know the struggle of the Cuban people on this tour. Claudia, our tour guide walked through tough parts of town that are really tough. We handed out toothbrushes and spoke with locals. Claudia lead conversations and we talked about murals and how it represents the oppression Cuban people have had to endure. We mostly discussed the hope and love the Cuban people have for each other. Truly absolutely humbling. Our guide was a badass feminist breaking stigma and making her country a better place. She provides resources and events for underprivileged communities and shares how important art is everyone.
Ok, not to be dramatic but let’s take another moment. Kasay is hands down one of the kindest and sweetest souls I’ve ever met. My friend Chelsea was feeling a little down so I went by myself. Kasay invited me into his home and into his private art studio and I was just blown away. As an artist, he had a huge impact on the way I see my career and what I choose to do for a living. To hear someone so intelligent and talented talk about their country and how his career as an artist was mind-blowing. Oh, also I painted a canvas and it was terrible but I tried! A must-do while in Cuba!
OMG SO. MUCH. FUN! Only so many guests per lesson but odds are you’ll be paired with another family or couple. I met the sweetest Norweigan family and if you’ve ever met a Norweigan you know they can PAR-TAY! I learned how to make a mean Mojito and everything else I forgot haha! The hosts were amazing and what a meal! The home also doubles as an Airbnb to stay. This was an early night so would be perfect to fill out before going out.
WHERE WE STAYED
I’ll say it once and I’ll say it again, I’ve never met an Airbnb I didn’t like! From Japanese chefs in NYC to llama farms in North Carolina…I HEART AIRBNB. Can I say it louder? When are you guys going to start paying me? I send enough business your way!
This Airbnb experience was WILD. We stayed in a villa by ourselves and had a private maid that was just next door who cooked and cleaned for us, she was pretty much our concierge! We also had a security guard from 6p-6a who stayed on our porch and also scared the shit out of us the first night that’s another story for another time. I’m not sure I can explain the level of service and luxury, you can see photos and videos below! Link to listing: https://abnb.me/JAYSSKqVg0
